Dr Rakesh Jalali

Dr Rakesh Jalali is an eminent Neuro-Oncologist and Radiation Oncologist. He is one of the founders of the Indian Society of Neuro-Oncology (ISNO). He is presently the Chairman of Apollo Proton Centre, Chennai, the first such centre in whole of South Asia. He is a very strong proponent of Patient support and advocacy groups. He is founder of Brain Tumor Foundation of India, the first such NGO taking care of the psycho-social needs of the patients and their care givers. He was instrumental in starting the monthly meets of patients and their care givers and organised the annual fest for them with various activities.

He has been a prime motivator for setting up the BTSG Awareness Foundation and has also guided in taking the agenda of the foundation forwards.

Mr Gordon and Mrs Kathy Oliver

Mrs Kathy Oliver and Mr Gordon Oliver are founding Directors of International Brain Tumor Alliance (IBTA). Having lost their own son to malignant glioma, they felt the immense need to have patient and care giver support mechanism for those afflicted by this condition to go through the testing times right from the diagnosis, during treatment, during recovery and in some cases end-of-life moments. They have established IBTA and and bring together all such support groups all over the world. This way, there is exchange of expertise, skills and lessons learnt. It has also led to a motivated funding towards research and sensitised the policy makers towards this illness.

Ms Savita Goswami

Ms Savita Goswami is a Psycho-Oncologist at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai. With her training in Clinical Psychology, she has been instrumental in planning and implementing programmes for patient and care giver support for those affected by brain tumors. She provides psychological support, conducts weekly and monthly sessions at Tata Memorial Hospital. She also imparts training to other psychologists and organisations on this matter. She has motivated and guided in setting up the BTSG Awareness Foundation.

Dr Prakash Chitalkar

Dr Prakash Chitalkar is a renowned Medical Oncologist and active proponent of patient support and advocacy. He is the founding director of “Teen and Young Adult Cancer Foundation” which addresses the needs of teenagers and Young adults affected by various forms of cancers. He has guided us in incorporation of BTSG Foundation.
